Re: Extension of Cambodian Tourist Visa

Posted December 5, 2016

Due to many questions we have been receiving about the extension of the Cambodian Tourist Visa we would like to inform our readers that we have received advice from our visa agent that the Cambodian immigration authority is currently allowing the extension of the Cambodian Tourist Visa without the need to go out of the territory of Cambodia.

The Cambodian Tourist Visa can be extended for 30 days. Only one extension is allowed.

Please be aware, however, that it is not unusual for the immigration authorities to suddenly change the polices related to visa rules and regulations without prior publication or notice. We strongly advise that you consult a reliable visa agent prior to the expiration date of your tourist visa if you plan to extend your stay in Cambodia as tourist for another 30 days.

Re: The Cambodian 3-Year Visa

There were recent reports carried by local newspapers in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, informing that, effective September 1, 2016, a 3-year visa will be made available to foreign nationals in Cambodia.

Please be aware that as of September 7, 2016 we have not yet seen any implementation guidelines on this issued by the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC). We will post an advisory on this as soon as we can get official and reliable information about it.

Re: Cambodian Visa for Children Below 12 Years of Age

Posted September 7, 2016

An advisory (dated September 1, 2016) taken from the Embassy of the Philippines in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, says that according to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) children, below 12 years of age, of incoming foreign nationals, are now required to have an entry-visa and which shall be paid at the cost of US$30.00 for a Tourist Visa and US$35.00 for the Ordinary Visa (also referred to as Regular Visa or Business Visa).

Please be aware that, other than the Philippine Embassy advisory, no such information can yet be found in any publications issued by the Cambodian MFAIC or any information publisher.

The Cambodian immigration rule that has long been observed instructs that children below 12 years of age may be required a visa if they have their own passports, and they need not get a visa if they do not have their own passport and are traveling under their parent's passport. In both cases, the rule specifies that no fees (for visa or for no visa) will be charged.

This advisory, taken from the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh, is being reported here to forewarn incoming foreign nationals with children below 12 years of age so that they can prepare for the possibility of being asked to pay for their children's visa on arrival at a Cambodian border-gate or airport.

The penalty on overstayed visa (according to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation  or MFAIC) is now US$10.00 per day starting from date of expiration.

The Cambodian immigration rule that has long been observed on this matter specifies the penalty of US$5.00 per day starting from date of expiration. Please be aware that, other than the Philippine Embassy advisory, no such information can yet be found in any publications issued by the Cambodian MFAIC or any information publisher.

This advisory, taken from the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh, is being reported here to forewarn foreign nationals in Cambodia on the possibility that they may be charged US$10.00 per day for expired and overstayed visa.

Re: Price of Cambodian Tourist Visa

The price of tourist visa to Cambodia (purchased upon arrival) has increased effective October 1, 2014. Before that it used to be only US$20.00.  It currently (as of 2017) costs US$30.00. We are making this announcement as there are still un-updated information in the web that still lists the price of the Cambodian Tourist Visa as US$20.00. The Cambodian e-visa that can be purchased online cost US$37.00. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Find out in this page if you are tourist-visa exempted.
